Job description
This is an exceptional opportunity to join the senior management team of co-operative Xest. As such, you will be involved in all aspects of marketing and customer service and will need to take a very hands-on approach. You will be utilising the full marketing mix in a multi-channel environment, including e-commerce, direct marketing, product marketing, website content management and PR. Importantly the position will also look to take a pivotal role in identifying and developing opportunities for innovation. Working closely with the MD and Head of Trading, you will develop new and innovative ideas, successfully launching products to market to help deliver growth and category expansion. You will be reporting to the MD.
Role Purpose
To develop, manage and execute the marketing plans to achieve the ambitious growth plans of co-operative Xest based on best practice, the highest ethical standards and category innovation to help create a new business model within the sector.
Key Accountabilities:
• Developing the Marketing Plan, encompassing both on- and off-line direct marketing activity, in order to deliver the company's challenging launch and growth objectives.
• Creating innovation in the creative execution and delivery of all direct marketing activities across multiple channels in order to deliver the company’s objectives on customer recruitment, retention and revenue generation.
• Increasing value and profitability through effective development of database, segmentation and direct marketing techniques. Understanding and interpreting consumer and competitor trends to ensure that direct marketing methods are relevant and best in field.
• Developing and implementing a performance management process for target-setting, measurement and evaluation for all marketing activities in terms of customer recruitment and retention, growth of sales and brand execution. Development of a marketing reporting system, identifying and reporting on the relevant KPIs to senior management and other stakeholders.
• Monitoring sales, orders, response rates, AOV, repeat purchase and cost per order results to judge effectiveness of marketing activities, reporting results on a weekly and 4 weekly basis.
• Understanding the customer profile for all channels, conducting consumer research where necessary.
• Managing all agency and supplier relationships for direct marketing activity on a day-to-day basis.
• Developing key consumer and category insights and working with the Head of Trading to drive range development and category innovation. Co-ordinating and managing the marketing processes for new product launches.
• Working with agencies and suppliers to develop the website to allow customers to make informed choices, meeting their needs for accessibility and ease of use. Creating new content and regularly reviewing the website to provide continuous improvement to the customer experience. Developing plans to utilise customer interaction to add value to business through the use of tools such as social networking, blogs and podcasts.
• Preparing and implementing Search Engine Optimisation and Search Engine Marketing plans to increase target customer visitor traffic via natural search.
• Managing effectively the Marketing team, providing leadership and development to the team to maximise their performance and morale.
• Monitoring and advising the company on the legal aspects and codes of practice compliance for direct marketing and advertising (including, where appropriate, the marketing of medical devices) and data base protection.
To be considered for this role, candidates:
• will have extensive experience across a wide range of direct marketing activities gained within a direct-to-consumer, fast-paced multi-channel environment. It is essential that you have experience of both traditional direct marketing and e-commerce, and of marketing consumer goods.
• will be of graduate calibre, preferably with a formal Marketing qualification
• will be commercially astute and able to demonstrate a single-minded focus on ROI
• will be highly numerate with proven analytical and reporting skills
• will have excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and be able to create buy-in and influence both externally and at all levels in the company.
• may already have had some experience of an entrepreneurial culture. Irrespective of this, you must be adaptable and to be comfortable in a changing and evolving work environment. You will relish new challenges, be driven to continually improve and be inspired to deliver results with passion and enthusiasm.
• will be energetic and hard working, with a real “can-do” attitude. You will need to be a good team builder as well as being an enthusiastic team member. You must also be able to work effectively on your own initiative.
Candidates will need to demonstrate an impressive track record in Direct Marketing including catalogue merchandising and production, e-marketing including SEO & PPC, database management and analysis, direct mailing planning and comprehensive marketing analysis.
Critically you will have a passion for the customer, ensuring a customer centric approach with the proven skills in gaining customer insight and using this knowledge to drive marketing effectiveness.
